ORVIETO AND CIVITA BIKE EXPERIENCE €75 p.p.
ABOUT THIS TOUR
Orvieto and Civita di Bagnoregio is a Top Bike Tour, that is one of the most unforgettable routes and experience in Etruria. It takes place in mixed terrain, where we meet some hard hills, but can be easily tackled even without special training with our e-bikes.
Riding south to Orvieto, the way goes up to St. Severo and St. Martirio’s Abbey, better known as Badia di Orvieto, built during the VI century. Going towards Canale, the route unrolls through a tableland, which offers a baeutiful 360° reaching Castel Rubello, here we stop for visiting that beautiful Castle, where many battles took place in medioeval age. Along the way to Bagnoregio you admire farms, vineyards and farmsteads, so we reach the ancient Civita: the sight of the arrival takes the breath away.
The small village preched on a cliff can be visited only by foot (bikes should be left at the gates of the historic center), and the innerside is a trip down memory lane: alleys, small squares remember ancient times, awesome viwes are unforgettable. It is a worth a visit to San Donato Cathedral.
The ephitet "The City that Dies" should not deceive, in reality it is a small pearl set in the valley of the Calanchi, a unique landscape made such by erosion and landslides, so that already the ancient Etruscans began stabilization works to avoid that even the inhabited landslides. Saint Bonaventure was born in Civita, and here he was miraculously healed at a young age by Saint Francis of Assisi.
Several art directors have set their films here, from Steno to Genovesi, but the title that best honors this village is that of the film by Haiyao Miyazaki: Laputa, the Castle in Heaven. Recently, the hugely successful film "Can Kiss the Bridegroom", has seen here Diego Abbatantuono and Monica Guerritorre performers of an extraordinary comedy.
Then we go back to Orvieto riding our e-bikes for ending a great experience in a very special location, with an excellent local and genuine wine and food tasting,

AirBnB all Reviews

Do this tour. Do not hesitate for a moment. My day with Paolo was one of my favorite days of my whole life. Yeah, my whole life. If you are someone like me, you would have never had the confidence or insight to execute such a beautiful and immersive experience. Even in the middle of December, the region and trip was unforgettable. Not to mention, Paolo’s passion and knowledge of the region really punctuates this experience. You will learn and appreciate Orvieto, Civita di Bagnoregio, and everything in between!... AirBnB all Reviews

Paulo was an amazing guide! He met us at the Piazza Cahen and we bikes through the hills of Tuscany, Umbria and on to Civita. Paulo was warm and friendly and gave us much information about the history of Orvieto and Civita. We stopped at a monastery, a castle, had a snack in a small town and then to magical Civita. I’m so glad we did this trip with a guide as we learned so much more than just going on our own. The last stop of our trip was at a family owned winery in Orvieto where we got a tour of the wine room and sampled 2 wines, had local meats and cheeses, pork, potatoes and sweets. This was money well spent and the most favorite part of our trip! The Ebikes were easy to use and made our 6 hour trip and many uphill climbs easy!! Must do trip! Thank you, Paulo!!... Paolo is an incredible and generous guide, taking time to make our experience unforgettable. He is knowledgable and friendly, taking us to locations we could not have found on our own, and he's obviously very passionate about the history of these places. We learned a lot from him! The lunch provided was beautiful and delicious with a lovely view and very good company. We had some issues with a few details of the tour due to our daughter's illness, but Paolo was easily able to adjust to our needs. Because of him we were able to see more of the area in one day than we would have been able to on our own. Paolo's tour was the highlight of our trip to Lazio/Umbria. We will definitely do a tour with Paolo again when we return to Italy!... TripAdvisor all Reviews

Great experience if you've not experienced riding an E bike before. Straight onto country roads and stopping at poignant moments along the way to Civita. Unbelievable lunch just before you get back to Orvieto. We enjoyed it so much we booked on the evening tour around Orvieto with dinner.... TripAdvisor all Reviews
